Athletics Update with MC Stadium in background

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports Good Day Everyone, A slight delay this week in getting out our updates.  As in the past, I will be sending out weekly athletic updates typically on Monday Mornings providing updates from the prior week.  Here is a look at how our teams have performed early in their seasons.


The Boys Soccer Team opened the season with a hard fought 3-2 loss over BCSL Patriot Division rivals Florence High School.  Pat Broadbelt and Justin Butler were the goal scorers for the Panthers.  The boys responded with a 1-0 overtime win over Patriot Division rivals yesterday.  Connor McCann placed a free kick perfectly for Kian Briant to head it in and give the Panthers the walk-off win!  Deakon Haines made 9 saves to earn the shutout win.  The boys are now 1-1 on the season and will host Audubon High School on Thursday at 4PM.

The JV Boys Soccer Team  is 2-0 on the season after a 3-2 win over Florence and a 3-1 win over Holy Cross.  Rian Austin scored twice and Marco Ordonez had a goal against Holy Cross.

The Girls Soccer Team opened their season by demolishing Maple Shade 7-1 yesterday.  Mikayla Mangano led the offense with a hat trick and Ellie McCarron had 2 goals.  Jillian Hines and La’Nya Muldrew-Bracero each added a goal.  Maeve O’Connell earned the win in goal.  The girls are 1-0 on the season and will host BCIT Medford on Friday.

The Football Team battled Bishop Eustace on Friday, losing by a score of 29-6.  John Latimore scored the Panthers touchdown in the 3rd quarter to bring the score to 18-6 but Eustace scored a couple of 4th quarter touchdowns to ice the game.  The Panthers will host Holy Cross High School this Friday at 6PM at Matt Curtis Memorial Stadium.  Make sure to wear your red and come support the team!

The Girls Tennis Team competed against Audubon and Northern Burlington last week losing both matches 5-0.  The girls varsity team consists of Grace Stavely as their #1 singles player, Sidney Lim as their #2 singles player and Jane Ancker as their #3 singles player.  The 1st Doubles Team is made up of Jordyn Carter and Karly Klipple and their 2nd Doubles Team made up of Jasmine Martinez and Olivia Gallagher.

Yee-Haw! Congratulations to the Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard for their 2nd place finish at the Cinnaminson Tournament of Bands Competition on Saturday.  They finished with a score of 74.72, one of the highest ever to begin a year. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed their Western Show. 

The Field Hockey Team will open their season today at Legion Field against Moorestown Friends.
