Mr. Devlin introduced our guests: Coach B (Bernai Holman) & Dr. Eboni Bell from The Pink Couch Conversations & then turned over the Auditorium to Women Only! Our girls from grades 7, 8, & 9 were included today in a personal development rally entitled, "Self-Esteem is my Super-Power!"
The assembly was specifically designed as a social-emotional wellness program for female middle school students to help increase self-esteem. It took a deep dive into exploring creativity and cultivating mindfulness in a truly supportive and empowering environment. The responses to many questions & group activities received audible praise heard throughout the halls.
The enthusiasm of our presenters was contagious and the morning proved to be uplifting for a number of girls. The effects of low self-perception, social media, bullying and maintaining healthy social relationships were all covered. Following today's presentation a select group of girls who were recommended by faculty & counselors were informed that they have been invited to be involved in a Pink Couch Convo Club. These girls will meet monthly during the school day to build their social-emotional learning (SEL) portfolios through interactive, team-building workshops focused on self, social, and career development.
