-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reportsGood DAY Palmyra! Here is a look at how our student athletes performed last week:

Yee-Haw!  Congratulations to the Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard for their 1st place finish at the Washington Township Cavalcade of Bands competition on Saturday.  This is their fourth First place honor this year!  They totally dominated the competition beating the second place finisher by over 5 points!  Just like weeks past, they again won captions for Best Music, Best Visual and Best Effect.  They again scored higher than all the other “A” class bands including Cherry Hill East and Washington Township.  The Marching Panthers are currently ranked Second in Cavalcade of Bands for the Independence A class.     Check out their video!

The Field Hockey Team went 2-1 on the week.  The girls lost a tight battle to Burlington City on Tuesday, 1-0.  The girls rebounded with a 2-0 shutout win over Nottingham High School on Wednesday.  Anna Paszkiewicz provided an assist for the girls.  The girls finished their week with a 3-1 win over Winslow High School on Friday.  Danica Krstic scored a goal and Anna Paszkiewicz had 2 assists.  The girls are now 6-8 on the season and will travel to Maple Shade on Tuesday for their next match.  

The Boys Soccer Team had a difficult week losing to the #6 ranked team in South Jersey, AP Schalick on Monday and #4 ranked team in South Jersey, Cinnaminson, on Wednesday.  The boys played AP Schalick to a tight contest, eventually losing in overtime 2-1.  Cole McCamy put the Panthers on the board with a penalty kick in the 1st half.  Schalick tied it in the 2nd half before winning it in overtime.  The boys lost to Cinnaminson 4-0 on Wednesday but held the Pirates scoreless in the 1st half. The boys are now 9-5 on the season and will host Northern Burlington High School on Tuesday at the Stadium.

The Football Team lost to Buena High School on Friday, 28-21.  John Latimore threw for 2 touchdowns.  Michael Monroe rushed 5 times for 90 yards and a touchdown.  Jaleel Latimore caught 4 passes from his brother for 101 yards and 2 touchdowns.  The Panthers are now 3-5 on the season and will travel to Burlington City on Friday for their last regular season game.  Game time is 6PM at City of Friday.


The Girls Soccer Team also played some tough competition last week losing to the #5 ranked team in South Jersey, Cinnaminson, 6-0.  The girls played Group 3 Burlington Township on Friday and lost to the Falcons 4-1.  Mikayla Mangano scored the Lady Panthers goal on an assist from Amanda Gilmore. Maeve O’Connell made 4 saves in goal for the Panthers.  The girls are now 10-4 on the season and will travel to Maple Shade today for a chance to share the BCSL Patriot Division Championship with a win.

On Tuesday the Boys & Girls Cross Country Teams competed in a batch meet at Westampton Tech. The boys' team of TJ Peltz, Brock Weaver, Aiden Quesnel, Carter May and Jack Timlin defeated Stem Civics, Penn Tech, Riverside, Doane Academy and Holy Cross.  In the girls’ race Maya Richman- Dupont placed 8th in the girls' race. 

The Girls Tennis Team competed at the BCSL Open on Tuesday and then played Cinnaminson High School in a match on Thursday.  The girls lost to Cinnaminson, 5-0 on Thursday.  They are now 2-12 on the season.

=====================MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS============================
The Middle School Boys Soccer Team lost to Florence 7-3 on Tuesday.  Jesus Analco-Martinez and Jaxson Ridgway each with goals and assists on the day. TJ Roscovich also scored his first goal of the season.
