-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Good Day Everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the last week of school for 2024! Our student-athletes began their winter seasons last week. Here is a look at how they performed:
The Wrestling Team traveled to Shawnee High School for a tri-match with West Windsor Plainsboro North and Shawnee. The squad wrestled tough against much bigger schools. The team opened with a 45-33 loss to West Windsor Plainsboro North. Winners on the mat included:
Blake Wood, Aidan Hines, Sy’Keem Muse, and Ryan Riley.
Gabby Alves DeSousa and Joe Garrison picked up forfeit wins.
After wrestling WWPN they then lost to Shawnee 63-18. Winners included pins by Aidan Hines, Deakon Haines and Ryan Riley. The team will travel to Pennsville tomorrow to take on Pennsville and Salem.
The Winter Track & Field Team traveled to Toms River for their 1st indoor track meet of the season in the SJTCA meet #1 against some of the toughest competitors in the state. Outstanding performances were had by:
Keronja Watson placed 11th in the 55 hurdles
Hailey Monroe, Madison Grimes, Maya Richman-Dupont & Keronja Watson placed 7th in 4X200
Zaria Welch placed 7th in shot put
Madison Grimes placed 7th in high jump and a personal best
Patrick Broadbelt placed 11th in the 1600 and a personal best
Mike Kozlowski placed 6th in pole vault and a personal best
Joe Barben placed 10th in shot put
In Girls Soccer, Congrats to Coach Sharkey for being picked by nj.com as the BCSL Girls Soccer Coach of the Year!
=====================MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS=================
The Middle School Basketball Teams travelled to STEM Civics and had the opportunity to play at Rider University’s Fieldhouse. The Girls Team defeated STEM 33-13 to open the season 1-0. The Boys Team lost to STEM 70-24 with Bennett Hart scoring 7 points for the Panthers.
