-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Good Day Everyone, It was a great weekend for the PHS Athletic Department and all of us Eagle Fans!  Here is a look at how we performed last week:

The Wrestling Team traveled to Lenape for the Burlington County Open this weekend against the top wrestlers in the county.  The boys returned with 4 medals from their successful wrestling at the tournament!  Aidan Hines, Blake Wood and Joe Garrison all earned 3rd place while Ryan Riley earned a 6th place medal. 
The girls team traveled to Central Regional High School where Samantha Domask won 1st place!  Please see the pictures of our medal winners!  The wrestling team will travel to Burlington Township tomorrow for their next match.

The Girls Basketball Team continued their torrid start to the season!  They beat the Falcons of Burlington Township in their only game of the week by a score of 45-18.  Ava Sims led the team with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.  Jillian Hines had 6 points and 17 rebounds.  Jada Coefield-Elie had 11 points and Amanda Gilmore scored 6 points while grabbing 16 rebounds.  The girls are now 11-1 on the season and will travel to Riverside on Wednesday for their next game.

The Boys Basketball Team had a competitive week against two very good teams but lost close battles to both.  On Tuesday they lost 51-28 to KIPP Academy Charter.  Sam Adams kept them close with 21 points and 9 rebounds.  John Latimore added 11 points and 9 rebounds. 
The boys lost to Group 4 Pennsauken on Thursday 60-51.  Jaleel Latimore led the Panthers’ offense with 14 points while Sam Adams added 13 points and John Latimore added 10.  The boys are now 8-7 on the season and will host Moorestown Friends tonight at 5:15 in the PHS Gym.

The Winter Track & Field teams ran at the Toms River Bubble while Joe Barben and Maddie Grimes ran at the Nike Elite Meet at UPenn. Here are the top results:
Nike South Jersey Elite meet:

  • Madison Grimes  20th in the Long Jump

  • Joe Barben 17th in the Shot Put

SJTCA meet at Toms River:

  • Ciyonna Johnson a season's best in 55 dash

  • La'Nya Muldrew Bracera Season's best in 55 hurdles

  • Olivia Lynch a season's best in shot put

  • Aubrie Hort a season's best in shot put

  • TJ Peltz a season's best in 400 and 1600

  • Justin Clemons a season's best in 400

  • John Hammond a season's best in 800 and 1600

  • Brock Weaver a season's best in 800

  • Josh Carter a season's best in hurdles and high jump and he placed 7th overall

  •   Brandon Howell a season's best in hurdles

  • Michael Kozlowski placed 6th with a personal best in the pole vault

  • David Sarmiento-Hoyas a season's best in the shot put

=====================MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS============================
The 6th/7th Grade Middle School Boys & Girls Basketball Teams played Moorestown Friends on Wednesday.  The Boys game finished with a 38-34 Moorestown Friends win. 

Here are the boys leading scorers from the game:

  • Bennett Hart - 4 points

  • Kwame Chisholm - 6 points

  • Breylen Wise - 7 points

  • Allen Pankey - 14 points

  • Mike Airall - 3 points. 

The boys and girls middle school teams will host Riverside today at Charles Street School.
