-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Good Day Everyone! What a weekend for us Eagle Fans! Our winter sports will be winding down over the next few weeks as we approach tournament time! Here is a look at how our student athletes performed last week:
The Girls Basketball Team had another impressive week going 3-1 on the week. After a tough loss to Bordentown on Monday, the girls won their next three in a row. The girls defeated Pennsauken Tech on Wednesday, 51-41. Ava Sims had 15 points and Cameron DiMeo added 14. The girls then smashed Moorestown Friends on Friday, 40-20. Ava Sims had 14 points and 11 rebounds to record the double-double.
The girls finished off their week by defeating Deptford High School on Saturday in a close game, 34-31. Ava Sims continued her hot streak by scoring 7 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. Amanda Gilmore added 8 points and 4 rebounds for the girls and Cameron DiMeo played tough defense all game collecting 6 steals. The Lady Panthers are now an impressive 16-2 on the season and will host Maple Shade tonight in the PHS Gym at 5:15 for senior night.
The Panthers Wrestling Team went 2-3 on the week. The squad opened the week by tying Bordentown 36-36 but losing on the criteria tie breaker. Aidan Hines, Justin Lopez, Nick Rex, Ryan Riley and Blake Wood all picked up wins on the mat.
The team had an impressive performance on senior night against Ewing on Thursday, defeating them 49-18. The team honored their seniors, their parents and 1 educator who made a difference in their time at PHS (see picturebelow). Blake Wood, Jose Hernandez, Chace Mulherin, Aidan Hines, Burak Sayin, Joe Garrison, Deakon Haines and Ryan Riley all had wins on the mat.
The Panthers then defeated Pitman High School in Saturday’s quad at Mainland, 47-35. Blake Wood, Jose Hernandez, Aidan Hines, Nick Rex and Burak Sayin all had wins on the mat. The Panthers are now 8-15 on the season and will travel to Paulsboro High School for the 1st Round of the NJSIAA Sectional Tournament tonight.
The Boys Basketball Team had a solid week going 2-1. The boys opened the week with a win over archrival Florence High School, 58-54. Da’Shon Edmonds led the offense with 19 points. Jesahi Robinson added 14 points and Sam Adams chipped in 12 while Jaleel Latimore came down with 14 rebounds.
The boys finished the week with a 61-51 win over Willingboro High School. Sam Adams had a double-double scoring 13 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Da’Shon Edmonds had 8 points and 19 rebounds. The Panthers are now 12-10 on the season and will head to Delran High School tonight for their next game.
On Monday the Boys & Girls Winter Track & Field Team competed in Staten Island, NY against 40 of the best teams in the state of NJ. In each event there were over 100 athletes. Top 20 finishes were:

Patrick Broadbelt 12th in the 800
Mike Kozlowski 17th in Pole Vault
Marcus Grimes 18th in the Triple Jump
Josh Carter 18th in the High Jump
