This is our FIRST weekly recap of the new school year and fall sports season.
The Boys Soccer Team had a big opening week blowing out division favorites Florence High School on Wednesday, 5-0. Joe Russell scored twice and Chris McCarron, Reed Wells and Christian Garrison all added goals for the Panthers. John Liebe made 4 saves to earn the shutout in net. The Panthers then beat Pemberton High School on Saturday, 6-0. Joe Russell led the attack with 3 goals while Chris McCarron, Zach Warnock and Reed Wells all scored as well with Matteo Gravano adding 2 assists. John Liebe and David Ward each made 2 saves to register the shutout for the Panthers. The 2-0 Boys Tea, will take on Maple Shade High School today/Monday at 3:45PM at our own, Matt Curtis Stadium.
The Girls Soccer Team also had a big opening week, going 2-1. The Lady Panthers defeated Florence High School on Friday, 3-1. Lauren Gilmore scored 2 goals and Maura Russell added a goal and an assist. Maeve O’Connell made 6 saves in goal to earn the win. The girls then turned around and beat Our Lady of Mercy Academy on Saturday, 3-1. Elizabeth McCarron, Maura Russell and Julia Ostroff all scored for the Panthers. Maeve O’Connell made 11 saves in goal for the Panthers to earn the win. The 2-1 Lady Panthers will travel to Burlington City today/Monday for a 3:45PM kickoff.
The Football Team lost to Glassboro High School, 40-22, last Thursday night. The loss dropped their record to 0-2 on the season. Kwinten Ives rushed for a touchdown and caught 2 touchdown passes while accumulating over 200 all-purpose yards. Quarterback Damon Bailey threw 3 touchdown passes with 2 going to Ives and 1 going to Sadiq Cook. The Panthers will travel to Bordentown this Friday for their next game at 7PM.
The Girls Tennis Team opened up their season with a 1-1 week. The girls defeated Willingboro High School 5-0 on Wednesday. Naomi Caban, Erika Sarmiento and Kiyomi Okazaki all won their singles matches. The doubles teams of Olivia Ottenbreit/Fiona Hennigan and Gabriella Gillespie/Shea O’Connell all won their doubles matches. The girls will return to the courts at Legion for a match against Holy Cross today/ Monday at 3:45PM.
The Cross Country and Middle School Soccer teams will open up their seasons this week. Good Luck to everyone! Come out and support your student-athletes!
