-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Good Day Everyone! Hope everyone stayed dry over the last weekend! PHS Athletics and the Marching Band have had quite the start to the fall season! Please see below for last week’s updates.
Congratulations to the Boys Cross Country Team of Colin Broadbelt, Jimmy Crean, Owen Jacobs, Aiden Hines, Carter May, Jack Timlin, Sam Wence & TJ Peltz for their 4 victories against Delran, Burlington Township, Riverside & Holy Cross on Tuesday. The top 10 finishers in the boy's race were Colin Broadbelt, finishing in 2nd & Jimmy Crean finishing in 8th. All of the boys on the team ran personal bests under the rainy conditions.
On the Girls Cross Country side, Cadence Anderson ran her fastest time ever breaking into the 21-minute range for the first time and Cadence placed 3rd in the girl's race.
On Saturday the Cross Country Teams ran at the New Balance Shore Conference Invitational in a very wet & muddy Holmdel. Congrats to Colin Broadbelt! Colin Broadbelt was the first Palmyra athlete to win a medal in the prestigious New Balance Shore Invitational. Catch our wet but proud shots below:
Congratulations to the Palmyra Marching Band for their 1st place finish at the Cavalcade of Bands Competition at Plymouth Whitemarsh on Saturday. The band easily had their best performance of the season scoring a 71.55. The band won the Caption for BEST FIELD MUSIC from all band classes by a wide margin. The band also won BEST WINDS and BEST PERCUSSION for their division. Our Color Guard had an outstanding show as well, although color guard awards were not given. Congratulations to our “Award Winning Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard” on great performances!
The Boys Soccer Team continued its hot start with a 3-0 week. The boys started the week with a 2-0 win over Bordentown. Connor McCann scored the game-winner and Richie Butler added an insurance goal in the 2nd half. Deakon Haines made 10 saves to earn the shutout.
On Thursday the boys crushed BCIT Westampton, 7-0. Andy Santoro and Jase Jennings each had hat tricks while Abdul Iyiola added 1 goal. John Bilkins added 3 assists and Richie Butler added 2. Deakon Haines made 1 save on goal to earn the shutout win. The Panthers finished off their week with a 4-0 win over Schalick High School on Friday. Andy Santoro led the offense with 2 goals. Richie Butler and Luke Cannuli added goals. Deakon Haines made 6 saves in goal to earn his 7th shutout of the season. The boys are now 8-0-1 on the season, ranked #17 in South Jersey by the coaches and will travel to Bordentown today for a huge BCSL Patriot Division Showdown.

Congrats to our Field Hockey Team on their 1st win of the season beating Burlington City on Tuesday, 4-1! Palmyra’s Anna Paszkiewicz had 2 assists to help in the win.
The Girls Soccer Team also continued their hot start to the season going 2-0 on the week. The girls smashed BCIT Westampton on Tuesday, 8-1. Julia Ostroff had a monster game scoring 3 goals and adding 4 assists. Mikayla Mangano added 2 goals, with Angie Sauls, Ellie McCarron and Callie Carr each adding a goal. Maeve O’Connell made 3 saves in goal to earn the win.
The girls then shutout Burlington City on Wednesday, 6-0. Julia Ostroff scored 2 goals to lead the attack. Riayn DiMeo, Maura Russell, Ellie McCarron and Sarah Agnew all added single goals for the Lady Panthers. Maeve O’Connell made 4 saves to earn the shutout in net. The girls are now 7-1 on the season and return to action this week at Cinnaminson.
The Girls Tennis Team had an impressive 1-1 week. The girls defeated Willingboro on Wednesday, 3-2. Sidney Lim won her 3rd singles match 6-3, 6-4. The 1st doubles team of Jane Ancker and Grace Stavely won their match 6-0, 6-1. The 2nd doubles team of Jordyn Carter and Karly Klipple won their match 6-2, 6-1. The girls are now 2-3 on the season and host Trenton Catholic this week.
The Football Team traveled to Cherry Hill East for their game on Saturday. The Panthers suffered a 41-0 setback. The Panthers are now 1-4 on the season will host Florence High School on Friday at 6PM.

The Palmyra Middle School Boys Soccer Team beat New Egypt 8-3 on Tuesday.
Jaxson Ridgway, JJ Moran, Heitor Godoy & Jack Vitale- all scored 2 goals & most had 1 assist
Dorrian Davis had 1 assist with Bennett Hart in goal with 12 saves.
On Thursday, the Palmyra Middle School Boys Soccer Team beat Paul Robeson Charter Middle School 4-1, putting them 2-1 on the season. Arthur Godoy scored 2 goals. 1 goal on a penalty kick, and another on an assist from Jaxson Ridgway. Heitor Godoy scored a goal on a penalty kick. Jaxson Ridgway scored a goal on a free kick by Jack Vitale. Bennett Hart held a first half shut out, and Megh Patel completed the win with 5 saves.
The Palmyra Middle School Girls Soccer Team beat Paul Robeson on Thursday, 6-1. Kyleigh Himmel scored 3 goals to lead the lady panthers. Raeghan Carr added 2 goals and Maddi Flynn scored once.
