-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports:                              Happy Monday Morning, hope everyone had a great weekend!  Here is how our scholar athletes performed last week:

Congrats to the Girls Soccer Team on their 3 and 0 week and winning the BCSL Patriot Division!  The girls opened the week by crushing BCIT Medford 7-0.   Julia Ostroff scored 4 goals and became the all-time leading female goal scorer in school history-Congrats to Julia!  Ellie McCarron, Lana Stamato and Riayn DiMeo each added a goal.  Maeve O’Connell made 5 saves in goal to earn the shutout win, while Elsie Kenson also made 4 saves. 
The girls then crushed Pemberton on Tuesday 7-0 to clinch the BCSL Patriot Division.  Riayn DiMeo and Sarah Agnew each scored 2 goals to lead the offense, while Ellie McCarron, Julia Ostroff and Maddy Grimes each added a goal for the Panthers.  La’Nya Muldrew-Bracero and Julia Ostroff provided 2 assists each for the winners. 
The Lady Panthers then opened up their NJSIAA Playoff Run on Thursday with a 9-0 smashing of Woodbury.  Julia Ostroff had a hat trick and Riayn DiMeo added 2 goals to pace the Panthers.  Sarah Agnew, Jillian Hines, Maura Russell and Michelle Sarmiento all added single goals for the winners.  Maeve O’Connell made 1 save to earn the shutout.  The win improved the girls record to 16-3 and they advanced to host Gloucester High School in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  The game will be played today at the stadium at 3PM.  Come out and support them after school today!

Congrats to the Boys Soccer Team on their 3 and 0 week.  The boys finished their regular season with a 4-1 win over Maple Shade on Monday.  Richie Butler scored 2 goals to lead the attack.  Andy Santoro and Connor McCann added single goals while Santoro added 2 assists with Jase Jennings and Cole McCamy adding individual assists.  Deakon Haines made 2 saves in goal to earn the win. 
The boys hosted Woodbury in the 1st Round of the NJSIAA Tournament on Wednesday.  Andy Santoro scored 3 times, Abdul Iyiola and Connor Jones added single goals for the Panthers.  Kian Briant and Luke Cannuli each added 2 assists and Richie Butler added a single assist.  Deakon Haines made 5 saves in goal to earn the shutout. 
The Panthers advanced to the 2nd round where they took on rivals Riverside High School on Saturday and defeated the Rams 3 to 1.  Abdul Iyiola got the scoring started for the Panthers.  Jase Jennings then scored the eventual game winner with 5 minutes left in the 1st half.  Andy Santoro iced the game with a goal with under 7 minutes left in the game.  Luke Cannuli provided 2 big assists and Deakon Haines made 7 big saves including 1 on a penalty kick in the 2nd half to earn the win.  The boys are now 17-2-1 on the season and will host Woodstown High School tomorrow at 4PM at the stadium.  Come out and support the boys!

This weekend the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams competed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Sectional meet at Dream Park.  The Boys team of Colin Broadbelt, Jimmy Crean, Sam Wence, Aiden Hines, Owen Jacobs, Jack Timlin and TJ Peltz ran a strong race, but came up short in qualifying for the state finals.
On the Girls side: Cadence Anderson became the first girl in Palmyra High School history to qualify for the State finals 3 times.  Next weekend she will represent Palmyra at the NJSIAA State Championships in Holmdel Park. Congratulations to both teams on having a truly amazing season! 

Congratulations to the Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard for their 2nd place finish at the Cavalcade of Bands Competition at Hatboro Horsham HS on Saturday. 

  • The band had an amazing performance winning: 
    • BEST COLOR GUARD
    • BEST PERCUSSION
    • and BEST OVERALL EFFECT
  • They also won captions for Best Ensemble Music and Best Overall Effect Music.  

They will finish their season at the All-States Championships in New Oxford next weekend. Congratulations on a great performance!    

The Field Hockey Team completed its season with a big win over Pemberton High School on Thursday 4-0.  Anna Paszkiewicz scored twice and Evie Aird added two assists for the squad.  The win improved the girls record to 4-11 on the season, winning 3 games in a row to finish their season!

The JV Girls Soccer Team played against Pemberton on Tuesday and won 1-0.  Jillian Hines scored off an assist from Grace Woll.  Elsie Kenson was in goal to earn the shutout victory. 

The JV Boys Soccer Team went 2-0 on the week.  The boys defeated Maple Shade High School on Monday 4-0.  Jaxon McCamy scored twice while Mike Kozlowski and Pat Broadbelt each added a goal.  Marques Washington earned the shutout win in goal.  They continued their hot play with a 5-2 win over Pennsauken High School on Tuesday.  Patrick Broadbelt paced the Panthers offense scoring 2 goals.  Jaxon McCamy, Dean Maute and Alex Ridgway all scored for the Panthers as well.

The JV Football Team travelled to Princeton and got to play at Princeton University’s Stadium on Monday.  The boys had a great experience and beat the Tigers 20-8.  Sy’keem Muse, Marcus Grimes and Paul Minimi all scored touchdowns with Michael Monroe scoring on a 2 point conversion. The JV team is now 3-1 and will complete their season with a home game against Haddon Township today. 

Both the Boys and Girls Middle School Soccer Teams completed their successful seasons with games against Winslow and Florence this past week.
