-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Happy Monday Everyone!  Hope you had a great weekend, here is a look at how our programs performed last week:

Yee-Haw!  Congratulations again to the Palmyra Marching Band & Color Guard for their 1st place finish at the Clayton HS Cavalcade of Bands competition on Saturday.  The band had a dominating performance defeating the second-place school by over 4 points!  They again won captions for Best Music, Best Visual and Best Overall Effect.  So far this year they have earned two 1st places and one 2nd place finish.  Congratulations again on a great performance! The Girls Soccer Team continued their torrid start to the season.  The girls started the week with a 7-0 blitz of Moorestown Friends.  Mikayla Mangano had a hat trick and Ellie McCarron added 2 goals.  Jada McCloskey and Grace Woll added single goals for the Panthers.  Maeve O’Connell made 6 saves to earn the shutout win for the girls. 
The girls then shutout Bordentown on Wednesday, 4-0.  Mikayla Mangano recorded her 40th career varsity goal in the win and finished with another hat trick.  Kyleigh Himel added the final goal for the Lady Panthers.  Maeve O’Connell made 7 saves in goal to earn the shutout win.  The girls are now 4-0 on the season and will travel to Burlington Township for a pivotal BCSL Patriot Division match.

The Boys Soccer Team went 1-2 on the week with 2 hard fought 1 goal losses to start the week.  The boys lost an overtime battle, 2-1 to Moorestown Friends on Monday.  Kian Briant scored the goal for the Panthers. 
The boys lost another 1 goal game to Bordentown on Wednesday, 2-1.  Justin Butler scored the Panthers goal off an assist from Kian Briant. 
The Panthers were able to get on the winning end on Friday in a 3-1 win over BCIT Westampton.  Jaxon McCamy scored 2 goals and Justin Butler added 1 as the sophomores led the team offensively.  Dean Maute and Connor McCann provided the assists on the day.  Deakon Haines made 7 saves in goal for the win.  The boys are now 3-3 on the season and will host Pennsauken on Thursday at 3:45PM.

The Football Team lost a close game to KIPP Charter School on Saturday, 14-8.  John Latimore completed a pass to his brother, Jaleel Latimore, for the Panther touchdown.  The Panther defense kept the team in the game all morning long.  Jimmy Lindsay and Stephen Hankey each had sacks.  Stephen Hankey and Ryan Riley each recovered fumbles to get the ball back for the Panthers.  The boys will host Wildwood High School Friday at 6PM in their next game.

The Field Hockey Team went 0-3 on the week losing to Maple Shade, Clayton and Burlington Township.  Danica Krstic scored a goal against Burlington Township on Friday.  The girls will take on Burlington Township again tomorrow at Legion Field at 3:45

The Cross Country Team opened their season with a race at the Palmyra Cove.  The Panthers defeated Riverside High School, Pennsauken Tech and Pemberton High School.  The Panthers will run at Burlington Township tomorrow.

The Girls Tennis Team lost to Haddon Heights on Monday, 0-5 and Lindenwold on Thursday, 0-5.  The girls are now 1-4 on the season and will take on Cinnaminson today at Wood Park.

The Middle Soccer Teams opened up their seasons with games against Haddon Township.  Jaxson Ridgway scored for the boys in their game.  The middle school teams will take on Willingboro this Wednesday for their next matches.
