Tournament's Winners

 Here is a look at how our winter teams performed last week: 

The Girls Basketball Team continued their hot streak, improving their win streak to 21 games.  The Lady Panthers opened the week with a blowout win over Holy Cross on Tuesday, 62-27.  Palmyra’s seniors led the way with Julianna Mackafee scoring 16 and Ashanti Taylor adding 14.  Elizabeth Shover was also in double digits, chipping in 12 points.  The girls finished the week with a 51-32 win over Highland High School,  Ashanti Taylor had a monster game, scoring 24 points to pace the girls.  The win was the team’s 21st straight victory.  The girls are now 22-1 on the season and will host Delran High School tomorrow night at PHS.  The girls continue to find themselves in the rankings:

The Wrestling Team wrestled at the District 26 Tournament on Saturday.  Zach Kahana finished in 2nd place in the Heavyweight bracket and advanced to the Region 7 Tournament this Wednesday at Toms River North.  Danica Haines took 3rd place at the female South Regional Championships.  She advances to the NJSIAA State Championships in Atlantic City!

The Winter Track Team ran at the NJSIAA Sectional Championships on Saturday.  Kaya Robinson, Joe Fort and Owen Riley all advanced to next week’s NJSIAA Group 1 State Championships.  Kaya finished 4th in the 55 meter hurdles.  Joe Fort finished in 4th place in the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet and Owen Riley came in 3rd place in the pole vault with a jump of 9 feet and 6 inches.  Aiyana Lytle (55 dash), Alaysha Wilson (400 meters), Ella Cannuli (800 meters), Dominic Belton (800 meters), Joe Russell (1600 meters), Isaiah McPherson (55 hurdles) and Treviyon Brooks(shot put) all put up personal best numbers in their events.

The Boys Basketball Team went 1-1 on the week.  The boys opened up the week with a 63-57 win against Moorestown Friends.  The Panthers were led by freshman Kwinten Ives’ 23 points.  Sophomores, Chris McCarron added 14 and Dwight Douglas scored 13.  Senior, David Huesken added 12 points in the win.  The Panthers lost a close game to an 18-5 Pitman team on Friday, 60-54.  Kwinten Ives scored 16 while Joe Smyth chipped in 13 to help the Panthers.  The boys will return to action tomorrow at Delran in their final week of the season.  The boys are currently 9-15 on the year.
