Monday, March 21st was a special night for eight students from Palmyra Middle School.
The National Junior Honor Society was introduced by current President, Madelyn Carr. The guest speaker for the event was our own, Ms. VanZandt, who has worn many hats in our district and is very familiar with the service that is expected of an NJHS member.
There was a meaningful candle lighting ceremony, underscored by the talented Min. Michael Crews playing piano throughout the event. Each of the officers, Madelyn Carr, Brandon Howell (Vice President), Ian Smith (Secretary) and Alex Stoner (Public Relations) spoke about the purpose of the organization: "It shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character."
The new 7th grade inductees included:
- Grace Gallagher
- Olivia Gallagher
- Sawyer McNab
- Alexander Ridgway
Middle School Principal, Mr. Ken Holloway congratulated each of the new inductees and administered their oath. Advisor, Miss Wallace was beaming with pride about her group and being able to host an in-person event.
The reception following the event was sponsored by the Palmyra Education Association (PEA).
Congratulations one & all, we are #PalmyraProud!
