Good Morning Palmyra-We are back! Regular season events officially began last Friday and here's a look at how our student-athletes performed over opening weekend:
The Baseball Team opened in dramatic fashion with an extra inning, walk-off win over BCIT Westampton 13-12 on Friday! Joe Elmes and Lucas Moritz split the pitching duties before Mike Coletti came in to pick up the win in extra innings. The team battled back throughout the game and won it on a walk-off hit by senior Dennis Murnane scoring Miles Knox. The Panthers showed great character in never giving up and they get to start off their season 1-0. They will return to action on Wednesday against Willingboro.
The Softball Team started their 2022 season with a 16-3 win over BCIT Medford! Seniors Molly Jackson, Maria Dixon, Meghan Dixon and Juliana Rex all had 2 hits each. Rex led the team with 3 RBI’s while Maria Dixon knocked in 2. Maria Dixon pitched 5 innings and struck out 6 to earn the win. The girls start their season off at 1-0 and will travel to Camden County Tech- Sicklerville today for their next game.
The Boys & Girls Track & Field Teams started their year off in grand fashion at the Don Danser Relays at Lenape High School. The boy’s team of Tyree Bull, Sadiq Cook, Abdul Iyiola and Samoa Henry won medals in the 4 x 110 hurdle relay. The boy’s team of Jimmy Crean, Joe Russell, Ben Still and Dominic Belton won a medal in the 4 x 800. In the individual field events Joe Russell won a medal in the pole vault and high jump events and he jumped a personal best in both events. The Girls’ Varsity and JV relay teams each won a medal as well. The Varsity team consisted of Natalie Sherrill, Keronja Watson, Meli Martinez and Julia Ostroff and the JV team was Olivia McGovern, Meara Moran, Anna Rosica and Kirsi Muracco. The girls distance medley of Cadence Anderson, Elizabeth McCarron, Sarah Agnew and Lauren Gilmore also medaled. The sprint medley relay team of Anna Rosica, Elizabeth McCarron, Amanda Gilmore and Julia Ostroff won too. In Individual field events Lauren Gilmore won the girls long jump with a personal best jump. The Boys and Girls Track and Field teams will travel to Burlington City for Divisional Meets this Wednesday.
The Boys Tennis Team lost to Delran 5-0 in a tough opening day match. The boys will return to action on Thursday in a BCSL Freedom Division match with Florence High School.
