Weekly Athletics Update

-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: May the Fourth be with everyone! Here is a look at how our student athletes performed last week.

The fall store had some secret favorites that are available again, worth taking a look. Here are just a few items below & thank you for supporting all of our Palmyra Athletics Teams!
The Boys Track & Field team competed at the BCSL Divisional Championships on Saturday at Willingboro with the Panthers winning the BCSL Independence Division Championship!
1st place finishes included:
- Patrick Broadbelt in the 800 and 1600,
- John Hammond in the 3200,
- Josh Carter in the 110 hurdles,
- Our Boys 4 x 400 team,
- Brock Weaver in the triple jump,
- Mike Kozlowski in the pole vault,
- Isaiah Colon in the discus and
- Omar Kane in the javelin.
The Girls Track & Field team also competed at the BCSL Divisional Championships on Saturday at Willingboro with the Lady Panthers also winning the BCSL Independence Division Championship! 1st place finishes included
- Khloe Hunter in the 100 and 200,
- Ava Sims in the 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles and triple jump,
- Our Girls 4 x 400 team,
- Madison Grimes in the long jump,
- Az-Zahra Pollard in the pole vault and
- Zaria Welch in the discus.
The Softball Team had an undefeated week going 2-0. The girls opened the week with a 3-1 win over Group 2 Collingswood High School. Jasmine Martinez and Olivia Lynch each had 2 hits to lead the offense. Gianna Guglielmucci, Grace Stavely and Sidney Lim each added a hit. Jasmine Martinez, Olivia Lynch and Sidney Lim each had an RBI for the Lady Panthers. Jasmine Martinez was outstanding on the mound, striking out 11 to earn the win.
The girls then dismantled Burlington City High School on Thursday, 16-1. Jasmine Martinez led the attack with a massive 3 hit and 6 RBI game. Olivia Lynch, Sidney Lim, Jadiah Edwards and Grace Stavely each added 2 hits. Jasmine Martinez struck out 5 to earn the win for the Lady Panthers. The girls are now 9-3 on the season and will travel to Florence today for their next game.
The Baseball Team went 2-1 on the week. The boys opened the week with a 10-0 win over Burlington City High School. Ian Smith had 2 hits and an RBI to lead the Panthers offense. Marques Washington picked up 3 RBI while Nate Bachich added 2 RBI. Brandon Howell picked up the win for the Panthers, striking out 4 Blue Devils.
The boys finished the week with a 16-7 win over Willingboro High School on Friday. Justin Dellisanti had a big game collecting 3 hits and 3 RBI to lead the offense. Marques Washington had 3 RBI while Nate Bachich added 2. TJ Peltz scored 4 times while Nick Rex and Brandon Howell each scored 3 times. Nick Rex and Nate Bachich each struck out 5 Chimeras from the mound.
The boys are now 3-10 on the season and will host Pennsauken Tech today at Charles Street School starting at 345PM.
The Boys Tennis Team had a busy week playing each day. The boys defeated Gateway High School on Tuesday, 4-1. Justin Smyth (6-4, 7-5) and Rian Austin (6-3, 7-5) won their singles matches.
The 1st doubles team of Elliot Wence and Aiden Finch (6-3, 3-6, 10-8) and the 2nd doubles team of John Alves and Simon Jacobs (6-2, 6-2) were also victorious. The boys are now 3-9 and will host Lindenwold at Legion Field on Tuesday for their next match.
=====================MIDDLE SCHOOL SPORTS============================
The Middle School Track & Field Teams had a busy week and competed at Medford and Maple Shade.
- Aurora Previch continued her strong season by lowering her personal best (and the Middle School record) another 5 seconds in the 1600 with a time of 6:43.70
- Gabe Moran ran a personal best in the 1600 in 6:02.6, less than a second from breaking Pat Broadbelt's 2022 record.
- Jacob Henry and Gabe Moran finished 1st and 2nd place respectively in the 800 with times of 2:47.1 and 2:49.5
- Nick Rosica threw a team best 67' 8" in the discus.
- Cecilia Ostroff ran a personal best in the 400 with a time of 75.1
- The boys 4x100 relay team of Aaron Arevalo, Simon Allingham, Dominic Sawyer, and Joseph Malloy ran a season's best time of 53.28.
