Parents of Special Needs Students: This is for YOU!
Great news! The end of the school year calls for evaluation and recollection.
Our school district has been chosen to participate in a statewide survey by the New Jersey Department of Education (Office of Special Education). This survey is part of an effort to improve special education programs, services, and supports for children and families across the state.
SURVEYS ARE OUT NOW! Check your home mailbox for correspondence from the NJDOE! Each year a sampling of districts across the state are invited to share their voices in the parent survey. This year there are 109 districts selected to participate and we want to be sure that our very special students have their family voice heard!
Here is what you need to know:
- When it arrives: You will receive the survey via your mailbox during June or July.
-
How to submit it:
- By Mail: You can fill out the paper copy and mail it back right away using the pre-paid, pre-addressed envelope included. It goes directly to a private company that will scan and summarize the results.
- Online: If you prefer, you can take the survey online using the special code provided in your letter.
- It is 100% confidential: You do not need to put your name or your child’s name anywhere on the survey.
- Parents who receive MULTIPLE surveys are encouraged to fill out ALL surveys as each one is specific to an individual child. (the preschool & school age survey colors are different- there are sample surveys on the NJDOE website.
- The state & district goal is the same: to reach all families to seek their input to improve services throughout the state.
Thank you so much in advance for your valuable time and support!
Ken Holloway, Palmyra School District Director of Special Services, is grateful for the dedication of our parents and guardians with special needs students.
