Palmyra HS Spirit Week

Week of Respect at Palmyra High School

Assembly
On Wednesday, October 7th, Palmyra High School hosted Chynna, a speaker from Minding Your Minds, as part of our celebration for the New Jersey Department of Education’s Week of Respect.

Chynna shared her personal story, with topics including childhood struggles in her home, substance abuse, depression, and suicide. Her overarching messages were to be yourself, you are not alone, there is more to someone than what meets the eye, and there are resources for help.

Students were prepped that topics could be triggering and our Counseling Department was and remains available if students need extra support.

In closing, I want to share with you how proud I am of the way our students represented Palmyra High School in our assemblies (one for Grades 7-8, the other for Grades 9-12). Chynna from Minding Your Minds shared that our students were the best she has ever come across in New Jersey. Students were respectful, thoughtful with their questions, and many stayed after the assembly to thank Chynna for sharing her story.

The behavior of our students was not a surprise, as we get to witness this on a daily basis, but I thought it would be a good message to relay to our entire school community. Thank you for your support and trust that you provide to us each and every day. Your kids are great.

PSAT Day - Palmyra High School

Each year, Palmyra High School offers the PSAT to students in Grades 9-11. For our 9th grade students, it is an introduction to College Board standardized testing. For Grade 10 students, it is a chance to show growth from Grade 9. For Grade 11, it is a final tune-up prior to taking the SAT. Additionally, Grade 11 students can qualify for PSAT/NMSQT scholarships and recognition.

Students in Grade 9-12 will have an early dismissal on 10/22. Students in Grades 7 and 8 will have a typical day of school.

School counselors will be joining English classes to prepare students for test day.

A more detailed schedule for Grades 9-12 will be shared in advance of 10/22.
